Climate catastrophe and the response to 'Rise'

Climate catastrophe has sort of dropped off the radar, thanks to the pandemic, though the situation is as urgent as ever.

Earlier this year I was honoured to be involved, with a number of other local poets, in Response to 'Rise', a cultural and arts engagement with the disaster facing humankind. It was inspired by the film 'Rise: from one island to another', which features poets Kathy Jetñil-Kijner from the Marshall Islands and Aka Niviâna from Greenland, and was originally planned - in the Time Before Covid - as a live event, as part of Fringe Arts Bath.

Obviously that couldn't happen, so the poems have now been recorded and, having been curated by Peter Reason, the former Director of the Centre for Action Research in Professional Practice, can be viewed here

Even more importantly, the original film is here.

So please, put the kettle on, make a cup of tea and take some time to watch.

    1. Still as urgent as ever, too, despite the switch of attention to Covid-19.
